Located in the heart of the Mugello hills north of Florence, Agriturismo Villa La Topaia offers up to 26 beds in two flats and eight bedrooms.
The apartments, located in the former farm house, are fully equipped with all modern conveniences and are especially suitable for families and groups. The first unit, sleeping 3, comprises one double and one twin bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen with fireplace, bathroom with shower, independent central heating. The second unit, for 6 guests, has three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with showers and a fully equipped kitchen with fireplace. The central heating is also independent.
Within the Villa La Topaia, guests can choose between 6 comfortable rooms with bathroom, a suite with double bed, bathroom and small closet kitchenette, and a second suite with a double room, a single room, bathroom and small closet kitchenette.
The 8 double bedrooms inside the Villa are simply but tastefully furnished, with an eye to comfort. The renovation of the Villa was carried out with great care to preserve the ancient features of the building, ranging from the high ceilings with massive wooden beams to the large grey sandstone fireplace in the ground floor hall.
The areas appointed for visitor accommodation are all located around the old farmyard. A well kept lawn equipped with chairs and tables is provided for guest to relax in. A little farther are a wooden and stone outbuilding sheltering a large table, a capacious barbeque and a wood burning oven where guests are welcome to cook their open air meals. A ping-pong table is also available. During the summer, our guests can enjoy and relax by the outdoor swimming pool.
In our family-run establishment, much stress is laid on providing excellent meals, and when preparing breakfasts and dinners for our guests we make a point of sticking to the rules of wholesome Tuscan home cooking: we choose fresh, seasonal produce; high-quality meat, milk and cheese come only from nearby farms; fruit and vegetables reach the table straight from our own orchard and vegetable garden; wine and olive oil are also local, while sugar, spices and coffee – unavailable as local produce – are all purchased from a fair trade organization. Natural-rise bread is baked in a wood-burning oven and fresh pasta, cakes and biscuits are home made with our own flour.
Daniela e Michel, who are constantly present on the farm, welcome their guests in person and are happy to make available not just their library of tourist guides, maps and brochures, but also their own deep knowledge of the area, sharing such information, anecdotes and insider's tips which can only stem from a daily acquaintance with a land and its people. Needless to say, should guests need medical attention, professional services or paperwork, they will always be able to count on Daniela and Michel's prompt assistance.
